The wonderful concert of Art Blakey Club Saint Germain in Paris on December 21, 1958: this is the complete version on Gatefold (before it existed by the others in 3 LP singles). 3 vinyls of three different colors which represent the French flag: blue, white and red.
Au Club Saint Germain it’s a memorable record, winner of numerous awards including the prestigious Grand Prix du Disque in 1959 from the Académie Charles Cros. Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers are here with Lee Morgan still (aged around twenty) on trumpet, Benny Golson on saxophone, Bobby Timmons on piano and Jymie Merrit on double bass.
Drummer Kenny Clarke was living in Paris at the time and in the songs “A Night In Tunisia” and “Ending With The Theme”, he joined the group that evening for a session that will go down in jazz history.
