Philpot Lane Records recovers the first 4 45s made by Fabrizio De André for the Karim label and reissues them in collaboration with Audio Nautes Recordings by doing a sound restoration: starting from the analog master tape reproduced tape to tape on Otari MTR-15, the lacquer made on Neumann VMS70 was obtained (Neumann SX74 cutting head with Adamant NSH2 stylus, 1 micron radius).
These are the philological reissues of the singles from the so-called “Karim period” of De André: the wide-bore singles, contained in an exclusive and elegant limited edition box set (only 500 numbered copies) are accompanied by an elegant 16-page color booklet (numbered) containing information on the recording sessions of the songs, details, news as well as the original reproductions of the Karim covers.
The Karim period gave birth to some of De André’s first classics: among these “La ballata del Miché” contained here in 2 versions, the more stripped-down one from 1961 (when the original title was “Ballata del Miché”) and the better-known one from 1963.
