“Miles Ahead” was the first album recorded together by Davis and Evans, who would later continue their collaboration with albums such as “Porgy and Bess” and “Sketches of Spain”. Gil Evans structured the ten songs that make up the album in a sort of suite, with no breaks between songs. Davis, unusually on flugelhorn, is the only soloist on Miles Ahead, arranged with a distinctive horn section. The album was awarded the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1994 and celebrates the new “cool” sound that had established itself in those years.
